Our Holistic Services

Acupuncture is an ancient medicinal treatment that stimulates the body’s own ability to heal. Originating in ancient China, acupuncture involves the use of fine needles inserted into specific points of the skin. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (or TCM), stimulating these points helps regulate the flow of Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) in the body’s meridians or energetic pathways. Needling also helps to increase circulation and release beneficial hormones and chemicals within the body to create an optimal environment for healing.

At Akeso Therapeutics, we use high quality fine needles to adeptly direct, redirect, unblock and balance your unique system to restore wellness.

Herbal Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) includes not only acupuncture, but also Chinese herbal medicine. Chinese herbology is an ancient and highly elaborate natural healing system (utilizing over 13,000 medicinals) that has been used for centuries by billions of people for all kinds of health conditions. While Chinese herbal medicine is very effective on its own, it is also the perfect complement to acupuncture as it works on different substrates in the body and maintains continuity in therapeutic intervention. While acupuncture works on the energetic levels of the human body, herbs work on the level of blood and manifest physiology. The herbs contain macro and micronutrients that can have specific therapeutic effects on certain organs of the body, such as the liver or kidneys. By working on both the immaterial and material levels, the treatment of acupuncture with herbs is much more holistic, effective, and lasting.

When working with Chinese herbs, we will create custom blends to suit your needs and enhance the effects of your acupuncture regimen (if applicable).

Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is a method of treating patients that addresses the underlying root cause of disease to restore balance and create true healing. By blending Traditional Chinese Medicine with Western knowledge and informing the practice with modern science, practitioners of Functional Medicine are able to treat the body as a whole integrated being, rather than merely addressing the symptoms caused by a particular disease. If heart disease is present, one must not simply treat just the heart, but rather the environment that created the condition. When viewed as a complete system, the human body reveals its needs and imbalances in a way that conventional Western medicine may not account for, often leaving pertinent issues to go amiss. This holistic practice is the doorway to proper diagnosis and prevention of modern ailments. Through the use of comprehensive blood and urinalysis, saliva hormone testing, food sensitivity testing, and gluten intolerance testing, we can diagnose and prescribe highly beneficial supplements – even over the phone. For those living outside of Southern California, our Distance Program is still highly accurate and effective. Some conditions that may be treated are:
  • Digestive issues
  • Leaky gut
  • Allergies
  • Autoimmune diseases

Facial Acupuncture

Facial acupuncture is a safe and effective way to improve one’s appearance without invasive surgical procedures. Extra fine needles are placed at strategic points in the face to help stimulate collagen production, erase wrinkles, reduce bags, alleviate deep folds in the skin, create “lift,” eliminate blemishes, improve muscle tone, brighten the eyes, and improve skin tone and color.

Endermologie is a natural, non-invasive form of body sculpting, or body contouring. Often likened to a deep massage, this painless treatment involves rolling and gently suctioning the skin’s surface to target the key factors that contribute to the appearance of cellulite: poor venous-lymphatic circulation, fat buildup and excess water retention.

Cellulite becomes visible when the lymphatic system stagnates, allowing fat to build up in adipocytes (fat cells) and water to retain around them. The adipocytes then “bulge” from the skin’s net-like connective tissues, creating a dimpled appearance. Endermologie stimulates adipocytes and stretches the skin’s connective tissue, allowing excess fat, liquids and toxins to drain through the venous-lymphatic system. Often likened to a deep massage, this relaxing treatment is widely sought-after from Paris to Los Angeles, and the preferred method of many holistic experts and medical professionals for improving the appearance of the skin. Individual results may vary, but can include:

  • Progressive improvement of visible cellulite
  • Dramatically increased circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Reduced lymphedema, or lymphatic obstruction
  • Increased production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid for smoother, firmer skin
  • Up to a 70% acceleration of lipolysis (breakdown of lipids)
  • Noticeably smoother, firmer skin
  • Increased skin elasticity, fat loss and inch loss
  • Relief of minor muscle aches and spasms

Lifestyle habits and hormonal conditions can further complicate cellulite, which is why the best results are achieved with both endermologie and holistic services that promote overall health improvement. We recommend combining endermologie with acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine principles to help achieve sustained results.
